CONTEXT

In 2013 the level of non-technical losses of electricity in Cape Verde was 29%. In the island of Santiago this value was about 43%, which translated into one of the most expensive electricity rates in the world.

 

 

OBJECTIVES

The main goal of “Electricity Losses reduction project” project was the development of a pilot system for identification and control of the non-technical energy losses and the monitoring of the energy quality and service quality on the low voltage distribution grid in the most problematic Praia City neighborhoods.

 

 

DESCRIPTION

The development of this project compromised the design and development of an IT tool, the installation of monitoring equipment’s in the most problematic neighborhoods and transformer stations in Praia City in order to locate and quantify the Energy Losses due to fraud and theft.
