RENEWABLE ENERGY AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY INVESTMENT PROGRAM

RENEWABLE ENERGY AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY INVESTMENT PROGRAM

São Tomé and Príncipe, 17 March 2025

From March 10 to 13, Gesto successfully conducted the inaugural training session as part of the groundbreaking project, “Building Institutional Capacity for a Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Investment Program for São Tomé and Príncipe.”

This initiative marks a significant step forward in strengthening the country’s institutional capacity to effectively manage and implement renewable energy projects. By equipping key stakeholders with the necessary knowledge and skills, the program aims to accelerate São Tomé and Príncipe’s transition to a sustainable energy future.

The training sessions were meticulously designed to address critical gaps in knowledge and competencies required for the efficient planning and management of the energy system. Participants, including government officials, energy sector professionals, and other key stakeholders, engaged in in-depth discussions on a range of vital topics, such as grid integration of variable renewable energy technologies, public policies and regulatory frameworks, incentives for renewable energy and energy efficiency adoption.

This program is a cornerstone of ongoing efforts to empower São Tomé and Príncipe’s energy sector with the tools and expertise needed to drive the country’s energy transition. By aligning with national goals and international best practices, the initiative not only supports the development of a robust energy infrastructure but also contributes to global sustainability objectives.

The second training session, scheduled to take place later this year, will build on the foundation laid during this initial phase, further solidifying the country’s capacity to harness renewable energy and energy efficiency opportunities.

Through this project, Gesto reaffirms its commitment to fostering sustainable development and empowering nations to achieve their energy transition goals.
