CONTEXT
The project’s focus was on strengthening the institutional and operational capacity of AGER (General Regulation Authority), which had assumed a central role in overseeing the electricity sector.
With the restructuring of the national power sector and the assignment of AGER to a regulatory role, the Authority needed to rapidly implement activities from its Strategic Plan to meet the technical, legal, financial, and economic challenges of the energy transition. The project supported AGER in managing this transition by providing specialized technical assistance, tools, and training
OBJECTIVES

- Provide qualified human resources to increase operational capabilities
- Develop technical knowledge in electricity regulation, service quality, and grid access

DESCRIPTION
This institutional development project provided comprehensive support to AGER through a combination of technical assistance, strategic planning, and on-the-ground training. Over a two-year period, GESTO and MRC Group delivered advisory services, capacity-building missions, and knowledge transfer to enhance AGER’s role as the electricity market regulator.
