CONTEXT
In Mozambique electricity access rates are below the African average, especially in rural areas farther from the grid. In such regions, where grid connection may not be technically or economically feasible, off-grid alternatives are required so as to provide rural communities with modern electricity services.
OBJECTIVES
The main objectives of this project are the feasibility study of Luchimua hydro power plant and analyze of grid extension or isolated generation solutions.
DESCRIPTION
The project’s approach comprises the study of the feasibility of Luchimua hydro power plant, performing hydrological, socioeconomic and environmental impacts studies, as well as demand forecasts. Different scenarios are analyzed and compared, considering both grid extension and isolated generation systems.
