CONTEXT

Focused on the 2020 goal of 50% renewable energy, the Ministry of Energy and Water and the board of Electra were very keen on implementing cleaner sources of energy and the Rui Vaz wind farm project was the most attractive renewable energy project to be developed in the island of Santiago.

 

 

OBJECTIVES

The main goal of the “Feasibility study and micrositing of Rui Vaz wind farm” project is to conduct a feasibility study and micrositing of Rui Vaz wind farm in Santiago island – Cape Verde.

 

 

DESCRIPTION

The “Feasibility study and micrositing of Rui Vaz wind farm” project includes: a wind speed measurement campaign for over a year; technical and economic feasibility of the installation of new wind farm; micrositing of wind turbines allowed to assess each turbine position, and thus to study the energy generated; and finally monthly reports of the studied wind farms.
