CONTEXT

Overall, Mozambique shows enormous potential in renewable energies, of more than 23 TW and thousands of possible projects, from small projects of rural electrification to the large hydro plants of the Zambezi river. Of this potential, about 7 GW, that is more than 500 projects, mostly hydropower but also wind, solar, biomass and geothermal, constitute alternative solutions for Mozambique’s electrical system to be considered and possibly integrated into future electricity network expansion plans.

 

 

OBJECTIVES

The overall objective of the CDM Project Development for EDM project aims to obtaining carbon credits in Mozambique.

 

 

DESCRIPTION

The development of this project includes the analysis and prioritization of EDM’s portfolio of investment projects for the purpose of obtaining carbon credits, the preparation of the documents for the CDM application, invitation to experts or qualified organizations to support the preparation of the PDD and determination of the baseline, preparation of the application, invitation to experts for an initial analysis and submission for DNA approval, DOE selection for project validation and issuance of a validation report, validation process support and guarantee of necessary corrections and clarifications, support to the DOE in requesting the project registration, at the CDM Executive Board, search for buyers for carbon credits, price negotiation and final buyer selection, and finally, the recommendations for the management of carbon assets.
