05 Oct Restructure of the electric sector it’s extremely important
The Minister of Energy and Water, João Baptista Borges, told to the Jornal de Angola that actions are under way to make the country a reference in terms of the use of clean energy.
The idea is to harness the energy potential without compromising environmental sustainability. João Baptista Borges also talks about the investments that are being made to increase the capacity of energy production and improve the distribution and quality of water consumed in the country by 2016. And he explains: rural areas are not forgotten. As rural electrification projects are economically unviable but of great social importance, a body and a fund will be set up to promote rural electrification. As for prices, the minister defends the reduction of state subsidies, now around US $ 600 million per year, so that more investments can be made and the population of rural areas and peripheries of cities without electricity can be met.
