OBJECTIVES
The Morgado de Agre solar PV power plant is a 50MW power plant located in Portimão in an area of around 100 hectares. It supplies energy to power almost 8.000 households allowing to save more than 34.000 tons of C02 per year.
DESCRIPTION
Gesto started the development of this project from the greenfield in 2015 and the project was connected to the electric grid in 2021. The EPC was developed by Voltalia for Smartenergy and the EKZ group from Switzerland. The development of the project faced many challenges, being the mountainous landscape one of the most demanding from the technical perspective. Given the rugged landscape, one of the project’s main objectives was to minimize impacts on the countryside, avoiding the cutting of cork oaks and protected species, trying to integrate the power plant in the landscape.
