CONTEXT
Gesto was, in 2009, the first company to apply for geothermal concessions in the Tuscan region (Italy) following new legislation promulgated in February 2010 that opened the Italian Geothermal market to private sector. Gesto was granted four concessions in 2011 and 2012, which cover a total area of 289 km², located near two high potential geothermal fields where there are already developed 772 MW of geothermal projects.
OBJECTIVES
The main goal of the “Montalcino Geothermal Project Development” project was to perform a detailed evaluation of geothermal resources in Montalcino’s concession (66 km²) in order to identify and evaluate potential reservoirs.
DESCRIPTION
The detailed evaluation of the geothermal resource in Montalcino’s concession includes the analysis of data from: gradient and exploration wells, seismic data and geological studies, among others; and finally identification of a prioritized project (10 MW), chosen from the identified projects.
SUMMARY OF SERVICES
- Resistivity analysis
- Analysis of gradient wells and deep wells
- Analysis and interpretation of seismic data
- Geological interpretation of drilling logs
- Analysis and interpretation of gravimetric data
- Collection and analysis of geological studies
