The EU supports the Sustainable Energy For All (SE4All) Initiative’s objectives and places a strong emphasis on Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) where the needs are the greatest. To this end, the European Commission has created a EUR 65 million Technical Assistance Facility (TAF) to support developing countries which are committed to reach the SE4All objectives and to significantly scale up investment in the energy sector.
Gesto was selected to assist the EU’s SE4ALL TAF in the evaluation of Burundi’s energy sector and of its institutional and political framework, in order to support the development of the country’s energy sector roadmap.
The main objective of the project was to provide an overview of available political, economic and sectorial information (reports, indicators, statistics) for the energy sector of the country, organized alongside two thematic areas.
