CONTEXT

Angola is a country that, due to its geographic location, is susceptible to the occurrence of intense atmospheric phenomena such as atmospheric discharges. Lightning causes, on average, 24000 deaths a year around the world. In order to improve the quality of life of Angolan citizens, the Government of Angola, decided to adopt an efficient strategy to reduce the damage caused by such phenomena.

 

 

OBJECTIVES

The main goal of “Angola Standard on Safety Against the Risk Cause by Lightning” project was to develop a standard on safety against the risk cause by lightning strikes.

 

 

DESCRIPTION

The project “Angola Standard on Safety Against the Risk Cause by Lightning” consisted in the development of Technical and Regulatory Standards as well as an Action Plan for Mitigation of Risks associated with Lightning and support to the Technical Group of the Interministerial Technical Commission. Also, it comprised the development of a communication plan which aimed to help raising awareness of the risks associated with Lightning, including design of campaign flyers.
