09 Jul KENYA, OLKARIA V GEOTHERMAL POWER PLANT CONSTRUCTION ENTER IN ITS FINAL STAGE

The construction pace of the Olkaria V geothermal power plant is under the schedule and its commissioning is expect by middle 2019.
This power plant – one of the largest geothermal power plant under construction in the World (158 MW), representing a total investment of more than 200 million Euros this is currently the largest Gesto project under development.
Geothermal energy is already one of the main sources of electricity production in Kenya as the country has one of the largest geothermal energy reserves in the World.
Recently, the Government of Kenya has presented plans to develop more geothermal energy projects as the country expects that the peak load will grow to about 15,000MW by 2030 and the Government wishes that geothermal energy plays a lead role on energy supply.
