Developed by Gesto, the “Angola 2025” remains one of the most important steppingstones of Angola’s Energy Strategy. In pursuit of the strategy and objectives set forward in Gesto’s study, and in the 2018-2022 Energy and Water Sector Action Plan (also developed by Gesto), the Angolan President João Lourenço authorized a €85,9 M investment for the electrification of rural areas in the provinces of Luanda, Kwanza Sul, Humbo, Lunda Norte and Bié.

The project, which includes the construction of substations and associated transport lines, distribution networks, household connections and public lighting, will allow the expansion of the electricity network and access to electricity in urban areas, municipal headquarters and rural areas covered.
In order n.º164/22 of 20 June, João Lourenço mentions that the national rural electrification comprises the Mussulo, Cabo Ledo and Sangano peninsula, in Luanda, Nzagi, Lunda Norte province, Chinguar, Bié province, Catchiungo, province do Huambo, and Ebo and Condé, Cuanza Sul.
