This is the first electricity generation project in Mozambique and the third since the approval of the Kyoto Protocol.
To reduce Mozambique CO2 emissions: This CDM project will avoid 542 thousand tons of CO2 per year and is the second largest emission reduction project in the entire Southern African Development Community (SADC) region.
GESTO was selected by EDM to develop the first CDM project in Mozambique.
This project consists of a gas engine plant with a total capacity of 175.14 MW, with an electric output of approximately 1.3 GWh / year. The project is located in Ressano Garcia and is owned by EDM – Electricidade de Moçambique and SNE – Sasol New Energy Holdings. The implementation of the project was carried out by the Finnish company Wartsilla.
The development of the CDM component of the project was done by Gesto.
