05 Feb NIGERIA, GESTO EVALUATES SOLAR AND WIND PROJECTS POTENTIAL

Gesto was selected to support Nigeria in the study and evaluation of its solar and wind potential and to identify the best solar and wind projects. The project will comprise the preparation of high-resolution energy resource maps of Nigeria showing the various energy resources available in the country and the preparation of technical and commercial feasibility assessment reports for deploying various RE technologies across various parts of the country. The project will also include the development of a GIS-based tool that will allow to support and guide private developers in sitting geographical locations for solar PV and wind projects across Nigeria based on several criteria, including resource availability and least cost options.
The inception mission of the project place from January 28th to February 1st. Besides the Kick-off meeting, GESTO met with the most relevant Energy Sector stakeholders.
The Project is being developed with the funding support of UNDP-GEF for the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN).
