GESTO DEVELOPS NORTHERN EAST MOROCCO STRATEGY FOR GEOTHERMAL

January 2019,

Under the Project Geothermal Potential Assessment of Northern East Morocco, Gesto is developing the poster “Road Map for Geothermal Exploration and Exploitation” that summarizes the strategy for development of geothermal power in an area of more than 60.000 km2.

The Geothermal Potential Assessment of Northern East Morocco project that Gesto is developing for the National Office of Hydrocarbons and Mines of Morocco (ONHYM) is in its final stage after more than 1 year of field work and desk analysis – which included collection and investigation of existing and new data, field work, laboratory analysis and interpretation and recommendation of the strategy to be implemented.

This project, developed with the support of ONHYM staff, comprised 5 phases:

• Synthesis, analysis and interpretation of existing data
• Field work and site identification
• Water and gas analysis
• Results interpretation
• Conclusion and Recommendations

The final results of the project will be presented to ONHYM in a meeting to be held in Rabat.
