KENYA, OLKARIA V GEOTHERMAL POWER PLANT – COMMISSIONING COUNTDOWN

After finishing the commissioning of the steam gathering system, the Olkaria V project entered in its final works and tests before the power plant commissioning.

The 154 MW geothermal power plant entered its final stage of development and the formal commissioning is expected before August 2019.

The Olkaria V project is the largest geothermal power plant under construction in Africa and one of the largest in the World, representing a total investment of more than 200 million Euros.

Gesto is developing this project through its Kenyan company SGC to KenGen – Kenya Electricity Generating Company PLC. KenGen is the leading electric power generation company in Kenya, producing about 75 percent of electricity capacity installed in the country.
