11 Aug Laúca Hydropower Dam starts generations
Five years after the works began, the Laúca hydroelectric dam in Angola started operating on August 4, 2017.
This project represents a public investment of around US $ 4.3 billion and is one of the projects of the “Angola Energia 2025” energy plan, developed by Gesto Energia for the Angolan Government and which provides for a substantial increase in electricity generation throughout the country.
The commissioning was done through the connection to the network of the first turbine with about 350 MW. The project provides six turbines with a total of more than 2,000 MW.
Located in the province of Malanje, the hydroelectric exploitation that shares the river Kwanza with the dams of Cambambe and Capanda.
